Residential Trash and Recycling

Under SB 1383, single-family residents are required to recycle food waste materials. Much of the residential collection service will remain the same, however, residents will now be required to separate their organic and food waste from all other materials by placing them into the container designated for organic material. Organic materials are defined as food waste, food soiled papers, wood waste, and green waste (landscape debris, yard waste, and pruning trimmings). To recycle food waste properly, please place the material in a clear plastic bag and place the bag in the green colored container along with your green waste. Residents should place their recyclables in the blue container, and all other waste that is not considered food waste or recyclable into the black container.residential three-container-system-04
