AB 341 - Commercial Recycling
The City of Industry's goal is to assist businesses in complying with the State of California's recycling mandates. Under State law, the City is responsible for informing businesses about waste disposal and recycling, and for tracking recycling levels, and reporting that information to the State. The City of Industry adopted the Integrated Waste Management Ordinance which identifies waste management options for businesses and contractors operating in the City of Industry.
AB 341 require businesses that generate at least 4 cubic yards of commercial solid waste per week to arrange for commercial recycling services. To meet this requirement, businesses in the City of Industry may choose to do the following:
• Use the City’s contracted franchise hauler (Valley Vista Services)
• Use a permitted third-party collector
• Self-haul their own recyclable materials with approval of a self-hauling permit
Using Valley Vista Services:
There are a variety of programs offered by Valley Vista Services to help your business meet its recycling needs. Valley Vista Services will collect and recycle your materials and will provide reports to the City of Industry on your behalf to meet the State's recycling and reporting requirements. You may reach out to Valley Vista Services at (800) 442-6454.
Using a Permitted Third-Party Collector:
The City of Industry also works with approved has third-party collectors who may assist your business with recycling materials such as cardboard, plastic, paper, food waste, synthetics, etc. You may find a list of approved recycling collectors here.
Using the Self-Haul Method:
If your business would like to self-haul its recyclable materials, your business will be required to obtain a permit by completing the forms provided on the “Collector Application” page. Once your self-haul permit is approved, your business may begin hauling its own recyclable materials to a recycler and will be required to report the monthly tonnages to the City.
If you are a business or a contractor and have any questions about waste management and recycling, feel free to contact the City's contracted environmental specialist, MuniEnvironmental.
